The saga of Sir and the dentist has been going on for.. well as long he has had teeth and has needed to visit a dentist basically.
He hates it. He is terrified and thus far no dentist has been able to give him a proper check up or even get a good look at his teeth.
I picked him up from school and took him to the wonderful Special Access Centre and his fabulous dentist Paddy. Most of the kids from Sir’s school go here. Nothing phases them, nothing is too much trouble and they are really lovely people.
Sir wouldn’t sit in the dentist’s chair – he just wouldn’t sit down so he was told nicely but firmly by the dentist “You sit here or you sit there but you need to sit down”
Sir asked me for a cuddle and I took the opportunity to plonk him gently down on a chair. And I stayed there, holding on to him, not tightly, more like a cuddle, the dentist saw his chance and took it! It sounds like some sort of military operation I know, it wasn’t! everyone was very calm and very happy.
Sir opened his mouth, said “aaaaaah” about half a dozen times and Paddy got a decent look at his teeth. 😀 no problems to report and the whole thing took a very painless 10 minutes.
I was very relieved and very proud 😀
