#SSAmazingAchievements 15/7/2015 The Hospital #FragileX

My #WOTW last week was Sir. I wrote about how he had hurt his foot. At the time I posted that he was at school and his foot seemed to have improved. Then I got a phone call……

The rest of Friday was spent at the Children’s A&E of Good Hope Hospital trying to determine whether or not the foot was broken. I cannot praise the staff enough. Locally this hospital has the unfortunate nickname of No Hope. Whether it was deserved in the past I can’t comment but they were fantastic. We were seen quickly, everyone went out of their way to make the process as easy as possible for us and more importantly Sir.

He was amazing. He co operated with the nurses.. apart from the X-Ray but even then he wasn’t as bad as he could have been. He did throw a tantrum when they produced a huge boot for him to wear but then he was tired, hungry and frankly looking at the thing I would have done the same.

But the wonderful student nurse got him to wear it and we came home, with an appointment for Monday morning. The boot lasted 5 minutes at home and sat in the hallway all weekend.

On Monday we actually got him to wear it to the appointment. He shook the Dr’s hand and said “nice to meet you” 😀 he co operated and we were told the foot wasn’t broken and he didn’t need the boot!

Very proud of him for the way he handled it all 😀

Well done Sir, I’m so glad this it all went well at the hospital. We don’t have good experiences with doctors and hospitals so the whole event can be stressful. What’s better is there were no broken bones.

Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)

  2. Well done mum for not having a panic attack. Sir is growing up and showing everyone he can do it, just like the little train. He’s such an amazing boy, you were lucky to have him, at times I know you may not think so but you are. And he’s lucky to have you as his mum.
