#SSAmazingAchievements 7/5/2015 Parents Evening #FragileX

Tuesday was Parents Evening at Sir’s school.

Normally the talk is of numeracy, literacy and so on, however Sir’s class follow a more sensory curriculum. They still learn to read and write but the focus this term has been on life skills, being more independent. I have already written about how he is now dressing himself – he got his pyjamas on the other night without me having to tell him to. At school he brushes his teeth every lunchtime, dresses himself after PE/swimming/outdoor activities, he has stopped throwing his shoes (as much) and stressing over whether he has them on his feet or not. His concentration now focuses on what he should be doing, as a result they are getting more work out of him.

We saw videos of him horse riding! he was going at quite a trot! πŸ˜€ there were photos of him traversing rope bridges and apparently on Tuesday they got him in a canoe! and a catamaran and a speedboat… my son is James Bond Jr!

His teacher is really pleased with him and we are really proud πŸ˜€

This is fantastic news, life skills are the most important thing in my book. It sound like he is in the right class. I really want to look into horse riding, I need to win the lottery first!

Thanks for linking up with Small Steps Amazing Achievements :0)
