Ever the busy bee our man has several films in the works at the moment. So I thought I’d post a little round up of each one 🙂
No Pay. Nudity
Also stars Nathan Lane and Francis Conroy.
Filming in Williamsburg, Byrne plays an out of work, depressed actor who gets back together with his old actor friends in the hope of reviving an now defunct Actors Lounge where casting calls were made and friendships formed. It is being billed as a comedy. And no. There isn’t any nudity!
Nobody Wants The Night
Also starring Juliette Binoche
The film is the story of two women, from two different worlds, and their struggle to survive in one of the most inhospitable places on Earth. Josephine (to be played by Binoche) is a proud yet naive woman in love with a man who prefers glory and ice to the comforts of an upper-class home. Allaka (to be played by Kikuchi), a young but wise Inuit woman, is in love with the same man with whom she’s expecting a child. Set against the backdrop of a relentless icy landscape, the film chronicles their long, tense wait for the same man they love in such distinct ways
The man concerned being explorer Robert Peary played by Byrne.
Louder Than Bombs
Not too much information about this one as yet. It’s had a few problems getting off the ground. I do know it has a Norwegian director and the Norwegian Film Film Institute has put up a hefty sum of money. The film will be in English and filming starts in New York this September.
“Starring Isabelle Huppert, Gabriel Byrne, and Jesse Eisenberg, Louder Than Bombs revolves around a famous, late war photographer (played by Huppert). The film will center around, “the eve of a retrospective of her work, some three years after her untimely death, [when] her husband and two sons discover an unsettling secret from her past” with Eisenberg taking on the role of the son with Byrne as the father” from Black Book
A wait and see on that one
Also stars Antonio Banderas.
This is a film about the Chilean miners whose plight had us all holding our breath back in 2010. Byrne plays engineer André Sougarret, the man who masterminded the rescue operation to free the trapped men.
No news of a release date yet.
Gabriel is also being associated with a film called The Chatterfield Possession. A “thrilling horror story” apparently although not sure what kind of role he will have.
So there you have it. Thank you to @Byrneholics as I’ve been plundering the website for info! ❤
